Migrating From a Slate / Ruckus Setup

Last updated on March 1, 2025
If you are migrating from a Slate/Ruckus setup, there are a couple of changes to make.
  1. If you are using Arri cameras with static IP addressing and have the gateway field populated for compatibility with the Slate, zero this out. There’s no other reason the Alexa needs connectivity to the wider Internet and this seems to break compatibility with other TCP/IP based communication.
  1. You can plug the bitbox straight into your network switch, as you would a Ruckus. All of your devices will then have access to the camera as normal.
  1. If you would like to leave your Ruckus in place, it can be helpful because you will have access to the camera over wifi still if you walk away from the cart. For even better range we recommend plugging a bitbox into your phone or tablet using USB-C.
